why not use ai?
ai as your therapist
If you've found your way to this page after a late night conversation with a chatbot, you're a human looking for answers and navigating options. The beauty of AI is that it's available and happy to engage at 3am, it never gets tired of you and never pushes back. To most people, that sounds like a relief, but maybe you're looking for something more.
what i offer that ai can't
I'm invested in this. Nothing AI says to you costs AI anything, whereas I am accountable and responsible for what I say to you and it can cost me something and that cost is part of what makes the work real. A real, separate person, choosing presence with you, session after session, meeting you exactly and unconditionally where you are, is just not the same as AI generating a well formed sentence about acceptance.
Somatic and process work depend on two actual nervous systems in the same space together. My own steadiness is part of the intervention. Text on a screen can describe safety, but it can't witness and co-regulate a dysregulated nervous system or body.
I carry accountability. Clinical judgement, safeguarding responsibility, continuity with each person over months or years. If something goes wrong, there is someone who can be found and who is answerable. That matters more than it might sound like it should, especially to someone whose trust has been exploited by someone or something that might also have seemed safe, until it wasn't.
And I have an unconscious. What a client stirs in me is data I notice, take to supervision and bring back into the room, aware of my own reaction to another human being in real time. Nothing like that loop exists in a language model.
where i do use ai
I'm not against AI tools and use them myself. They can save me a lot of research time and I think being open about this, rather than breezing past it, keeps things open and real.
if you're still deciding
You don't need to have made up your mind about any of this before you get in touch. Curiosity is a perfectly good reason to reach out.
